School administrators are challenged to improve the academic outcomes of their students. The challenge is knowing the chosen strategies will bring about the most effective change given the challenges of COVID-19 and the limited amount of professional development time.

Move Toward offers proven student-centered coaching strategies that improve teacher capacity while engaging students and increasing achievement. We know that you have a spectrum of teacher attitudes to consider – from those fixated on the teacher-centered models of long ago to those hungry to put the latest innovative academic research to work. How do you accommodate this spectrum, drive incremental progress, and work within your existing curriculum?

At Move Toward, we believe the days of talking at students are over. The age of inquiry-based learning has arrived and the most effective role of the teacher is as a learning partner. That’s why we’ve developed a holistic approach that considers the social presence, the teacher presence, and the cognitive design to create effective communities of inquiry.

The integration of high-leverage, high-impact strategies with the curriculum can be a catalyst to raise the level of thinking, connection and interaction in educational settings. We bring research-based, easy-to-implement strategies to educators to improve teacher efficacy and student learning.

Here’s how we work together

  1. We assess the current teacher environment

  2. We facilitate coaching sessions that introduce tools and techniques

  3. Teachers implement the new techniques with their students

  4. We meet to add content and continually improve as we go.

Move your district from transactional teaching to inspirational teaching.

Jaye Barbeau

Jaye taught middle school English for 20 years, gaining experience and insight into how to engage students and work with teachers to move toward cognitive communities. After a short stint in administration (not for him), he went on to work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as the K-12 Engagement Coordinator. In that role, Jaye worked with schools and districts to co-create professional development that raised the level of thinking in schools.
